If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to complete our travel questionnaire and check the fit for travel website. This can be filled in online (please see below) or collected from the Surgery to be completed and returned to us as where Reception staff will book you an appointment with the Travel Nurse for basic vaccinations and travel advice. You may need a follow up appoinment for further vaccinations.
We do ask you to check the fit for travel website here where you can find out if you require vaccinations not offered by the Surgery as listed below. If you do require a vaccine which is not listed below then please contact the Travel Clinic at York on 0330 100 4325.
It is important to complete the travel questionnaire as early as possible as more than one appointment may be required with the travel nurse to actually receive the vaccinations and some vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Vaccinations provided by the Surgery are:
Cholera - The cost of a prescription which is currently £9.35
Hepatitis A - free of charge
Hepatitis B - £25 per vaccine (ususally a course of 3 or 4 vaccines)
Hepatitis A & B combined - should only be administered if the patient has not already completed course of Hepatitis A.
Thyphoid - free of charge.
